In 2008 I took my first oil painting class in Westchester, NY. It was magic. Since that time, I've enjoyed many other classes and workshops and currently study at the Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, OH. My background had been strictly financial with a career as an investment advisor and financial planner and the creation of an investment advisory firm in New York. I truly loved my clients and my business. Beginning in 2015, with my husband's retirement and our move to the Cleveland area, I began to transition the business to my partner and to devote more time to my art.
Oil paint is my medium of choice. It is where the magic begins. In my mind I am sculpting with color and creating the impression of a three dimensional form on a two dimensional space. It is fascinating to watch the play of light and shadow on objects and to observe how the color changes with the light. It is amazing to create the illusion of perspective using only the subtleties of line and color. Once I started painting I saw the world around me in a whole new magical way.
S2UDIO is the creation of Nancy Minter and Leesah Tarr who have developed a space for artists to paint, critique each other's work, and to show their art to the public. In addition to Nancy and Leesah, the other artists are Rob Crombie, Greer Hopkins, Ed Erbach, and me. It is a pleasure to be a part of their working studio and gallery.
